The EKxxxx series bus coupler is used to connect traditional fieldbus systems to EtherCAT. A large number of terminal modules are available for ultra fast I/O systems and are now available for use with other fieldbuses and industrial Ethernet in addition to EtherCAT. EtherCAT enables very flexible topology configurations. Due to the superior physical characteristics of Ethernet, long-distance connections can also be made without affecting the bus speed. If it is switched to the field floor (without control cabinet), EKxxxx can also be connected to IP 67 EtherCAT terminal box (EPxxxx). The EKxxxx series bus coupler is a fieldbus slave and contains an EtherCAT master for the EtherCAT terminal module. EKxxxx is integrated through the corresponding fieldbus system configuration tool and the corresponding configuration file (such as GSD, ESD or GSDML). This integration way is exactly the same as the integration way of BKxxxx series bus couplers. The CX80xx series embedded controllers suitable for TwinCAT 2 and the CX81xx series embedded controllers suitable for TwinCAT 3 can be programmed with TwinCAT.
